Hope you’ve all had a good week! I wasn’t actually planning to post today but I had a bit of spare time this afternoon so I decided to finally write up The Blogger Recognition Award! I love tags like this – it’s a great way to discover new, smaller blogs! I was tagged by the lovely Katherine from Millennial Rants (thanks!) – you should go check out her blog now!
So you’re probably wondering how this tag works. Well, here are the rules:
1. Thank the blogger who nominated you and link to their blog.
2. Briefly explain how your blog started.
3. Give two pieces of advice to bloggers just starting out.
4. Select 15 bloggers you want to tag and give the award to – and then let them know.
How my blog started: I’ve actually been a blogger for over a decade, which seems really really scary! I never managed to stick to any of my old blogs, but I decided to start afresh in my first year of uni and create a new one that I can use as a sort of portfolio for my writing! I recently moved over to WordPress from Blogger so that I can have my own domain – I successfully transferred all of my book blog stuff but I’m still working on moving my main blog over! Hopefully it should be all sorted soon!
Two pieces of advice for new bloggers: One thing a lot of bloggers struggle with is comparing themselves to other bloggers, particularly ones that are more successful. While it can be difficult to avoid this, I think we all need to realise that it takes a lot of hard work to get to the stage we all dream of, and we can’t expect it to happen over night. Just keep doing your own thing and don’t worry that you’re not getting an amazing number of views, or you’re not travelling the world working with famous brands. You’ll get there eventually. Just be patient.
This ties into my second piece of advice: be yourself. Don’t try to be something you’re not – your readers will be able to see through. Use your own voice and don’t copy someone else. What’s the point in that?
The bloggers I would like to nominate are:
Hope you enjoy reading these blogs as much as I do!
