One thing I love to do on the weekends is to go for brunch. Although I live in London and there is an endless list of places to get brunch, I rarely get the chance since I usually meet my friends for lunch or dinner. So when I saw that Ashlee and Jessica were organising their very own brunch in London, I had to sign up.
The brunch was held at Annie’s, a cute little restaurant in Chiswick, right by Kew Bridge. As I rarely visit this part of London, I thought I’d have trouble getting there, but fortunately it’s a fairly straightforward route, and Annie’s is just a short 15-20 minute walk from Gunnersbury station.
Upon arrival, I was sent upstairs to a table that was set up for the event. Unsurprisingly, I was a little bit early, but Ashlee and Jessica were already there so I got to catch up with them before the rest of the bloggers arrived. It also meant that I had more time to browse the menu – I couldn’t decide whether I wanted a full English, eggs on toast, or pancakes! However, since I’d had pancakes at the last brunch I went to, I settled on Annie’s Full Monty – I was craving fried eggs! – with the Breakfast Martini (lemon, mandarin gin and triple sec) to drink. As with everyone else who had chosen the Breakfast Martini, I wish I’d gone for the Bucks Fizz instead – the gin was SO strong and I could only manage a few sips!
When the food arrived, I tucked in straightaway. The fried eggs were cooked to perfection and the yolk had just the right amount of runniness. The accompaniments were delicious too. I wouldn’t usually have potatoes for brunch, but these ones were super tasty – they were a little bit crunchy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. I did leave the toast, but I was so full up after the eggs, baked beans, sausage, bacon, mushrooms AND potatoes!
We wanted to stay and chat for a while after finishing our meals, but unfortunately the table had to be cleared for the next people. So we grabbed our goodie bags (which contained some yummy treats from Candy Kittens, Vieve Drinks and Ape Snacks) and took some instagrammable pics outside the restaurant before heading back to the station and going our separate ways.
A big thank you to Ashlee, Jessica and Annie’s Restaurant for being such excellent organisers / hosts! I’ll be sure to return to Annie’s soon!
