Films To Still Look Forward To In 2019

Films to still look forward to in 2019

Hey guys!

With films like Cats, Charlie’s Angels and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil still to be released in 2019, autumn and winter is set to be a great time for cinema. Below are 8 films I’m looking forward to watching during the remainder of the year…

1. Little Women

Little Women is a novel that has been adapted into films and TV shows numerous times, but the upcoming film is directed by Greta Gerwig and features big names such as Meryl Streep, Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson and Timothee Chalamet, so it’s bound to be good. If you’re not familiar with Little Women, it follows four sisters who live in Massachusetts with their mother during the 1860s while their father is fighting in the war.

2. The Goldfinch

films to still look forward to in 2019

The Goldfinch is based on the Donna Tartt novel of the same name and focuses on a boy called Theodore Decker as he comes of age in America after a life-changing tragedy. I’m intrigued to see how they’re going to adapt the 800-page book into a film – I personally think it’d be better as a TV series as there’s so much going on but we’ll see.

3. Where’d You Go, Bernadette

Where’d You Go, Bernadette is another upcoming film that is based on a book. It was originally going to be released in 2018 but the producers kept pushing the date back. Fortunately, it seems like they have finally settled on releasing it at the end of this year. Where’d You Go, Bernadette stars Cate Blanchett, Kristen Wiig, Judy Greer and Troian Bellisario, and centres on a teenage girl who tries to solve the mystery of her mother’s disappearance.

4. Charlie’s Angels

films to still look forward to in 2019

I’m not too keen on remakes, but this one stars Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Elizabeth Banks, Noah Centineo and Sam Claflin, and is based on one of the most iconic female-led films, so I’m sure I’ll enjoy it. Charlie’s Angels also has a highly anticipated theme song by Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus and Lana Del Rey, which I can’t wait to hear – I’ve been waiting for Ariana and Miley to release an official collab together for SO long!

5. Maleficient: Mistress of Evil

films to still look forward to in 2019

I have waited ages to see the follow-up to the 2014 film Maleficent and I’ll finally be able to watch it this October. Angelina Jolie returns as Princess Aurora’s nemesis Maleficent, who will have to battle Queen Ingrith (Michele Pfeiffer). Juno Temple, Elle Fanning and Imelda Staunton will also appear in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.

6. Cats

films to still look forward to in 2019

With a trailer that broke the internet as soon as it was released, Cats is guaranteed to be one of the biggest films of this winter. Taylor Swift, Jennifer Hudson, Rebel Wilson, James Corden, Judi Dench and Jason Derulo star in this remake of Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s quirky musical that features people dressed up as cats.

7. Frozen II

films to still look forward to in 2019

Frozen II is another highly anticipated Disney sequel that will be available to watch at the end of this year. This time round, Elsa and Anna are joined by Kristoff, Olaf and Sven as they embark on a new adventure that takes them far away from Arendelle and requires Elsa to find out why she became the snow queen.

8. Last Christmas

films to still look forward to in 2019

Yes, it’s a bit too early to be thinking about Christmas, but the trailer for Emilia Clarke’s upcoming film Last Christmas has just been released and it looks good. Emilia Clarke plays a young woman who is prone to making bad decisions, one of which is working as an elf at a department store for the festive period. However, once she meets Tom (Henry Golding) things start to look up…though not for long. Co-written by Emma Thompson and featuring the music of George Michael, Last Christmas is worth adding to your list of films to watch this Christmas.
