My London Bucket List

Hey guys!

I’m sure we all wish we made more of an effort to explore our local area. We all have a habit of wishing we could travel further afield, but what about the sights that are right on our doorstep?

London in particular has so many places to discover. It’s such a vast city, full of famous attractions that tourists from all over the world flock to see. However, there are also many hidden gems in London that don’t get the recognition they deserve. Unfortunately, London is very expensive so I don’t really get the chance to visit these places. So as you can imagine, there are numerous things I want to do and places I want to see in London. These range from major attractions (e.g. the London Eye) to restaurants to coffee houses.

*

1. London Eye

I know, it’s crazy that I’ve lived in London for 23 years and STILL haven’t been on the London Eye. I don’t know why I didn’t go with my European friends or during my Spanish exchange years ago.

2. Cable cars at The O2

I’m a bit scared of heights but these cable cars look kinda fun.

3. Electric Cinema

I went to the restaurant next door to the Electric Cinema for my brother’s birthday last year, but I didn’t get the chance to see the cinema. Judging by the photos I’ve seen, the Electric Cinema looks so cosy and different to the cinemas I usually go to.

4. Harry Potter Studios

I love the Harry Potter films (still haven’t read the books though) so I definitely need to check this out at some point.

5. Icebar

I’m not keen on the cold but as I loved the icebar in Puerto Banus, I’m sure I’ll like the one in London too. The cocktails sound lush – I love how they’re all animal-themed, like ‘Blue Baboon’ instead of ‘Blue Lagoon’.

6. Cereal Killer Café

I was SO close to going to the Cereal Killer Café with my friend before the #BloggersAreUs event a few weeks ago, but unfortunately there was a huge queue outside and it was snowing so we didn’t really want to wait. It’s such a shame because I’ve wanted to go to the Cereal Killer Café for ages. Saturday probably wasn’t the best time to go! I’m going to try again on Sunday instead!

7. Farmacy and Sketch

I’ve lumped Farmacy and Sketch together because they are two foodie destinations that seem really popular amongst bloggers. The food at both look delicious and the interiors are so Pinterest-worthy. I particularly like the pink in Sketch. I’m not really keen on vegan & vegetarian food (apart from tofu. GIVE ME ALL THE TOFU), but some of the food on the menu for Farmacy does look delish (I really want to try the ‘Berry Mess‘ and pancakes.

8. Steam & Rye

A few months ago I was scrolling through Instagram when I caught sight of the most amazing cocktails! I immediately clicked on the location to see where they were from. Turns out they’re from Steam & Rye, which is a Gatsby-style cabaret restaurant in East London. The cocktails are a bit on the pricey side (around £9-12 each) – maybe I’ll go there for my next birthday!

This one is called ”Maize Balls’ and it’s a mix of coconut, popcorn, caramel, milk and whipped cream.

So those are the main things on my London Bucket List. I’d also love to check out Alma Café in Barnes (erm, marble tables? Yes please!), Soft Serve Society (in Shoreditch), Nosteagia (also in Shoreditch), Lanka (cakes galore), Yolkin (macaron ice cream sandwiches) and Pretty Things Horsham (it’s not technically IN London but it’s just outside and the unicorn-themed hot chocolate looks heavenly).

How delicious does this look?!

Is there anywhere in particular you’d like to visit in London (or your hometown)? Have you been to any of the places on this list? Are they good as they seem?

P.S. If anyone fancies checking out any of these places, let me know and I might consider organising an event!

  8. Oh my……I hadn’t heard of Farmacy before, but now you’ve made me really want to go. I’m vegan, and I always love hearing about new places to try out!! I live in Brighton, and I think I’m definitely guilty of overlooking some of the tourist attractions here. Perhaps I’ll get round to checking some of it out this year!

    1. Serena says: Reply

Ah I need to visit Brighton soon, haven’t been there for years! Do you have any recommendations? I know I want to check out Boho Gelato while I’m there, and of course the Pier!

  9. London was a beautiful time for me, too. And, so glad I did all of those. You will have a great time, too.

  13. I remember going on the London Eye and I loved it! I didn’t even know the cablecars above the O2 existed and Cereal Killer sounds amazing! This is a great bucketlist to have. London is massive so there’s always going to be something to do. (:

I’ve been to London three times and have only seen the Eye from this list!! The cable cars look amazing. I am afraid of heights too, but they look sturdy enough, right?! Such a great list!!

  16. I’ve visited London last year for a little less than 24 hours and I loved it. I didn’t get to do everything on my list but I’ve visited Oxford Streets, Kensington area and passed by the London Eye. But still I wish to go back soon to see more of the beautiful city! x

I loved this post! I’m from halfway across the globe, but it’s always been a dream of mine to visit London. I didn’t even know half these places existed. I’ve been dying to see the Harry Potter studios – hope I can visit Europe one day. Thank you for sharing 🙂

  18. I live 20 minutes from London and feel like I’ve done everything there possibly is to do but there’s ALWAYS more to see, even when it’s somewhere that’s so close and familiar to you. I’ve done the London Eye a couple of times; it’s a good experience with fantastic views. My favourite places in London have to be the London Dungeons (SO MUCH FUN) and Madame Tussauds xx

    1. Serena says: Reply

Yes, definitely agree! I love Madame Tussauds too, haven’t been for years!

  19. Love this post! As we live in london too, it’s so easy to miss such amazing things! We have yet to go to Sketch and Harry Potter studios too!

  20. Ooooo I would totally love to visit the Cereal Killer Cafe! So many cereals, so little time! And I’d love to try out Yogasphere (yoga at the Shard) as that just looks so amazing.

Strangely, when I lived in London my favourite place to visit was the book market on the Southbank. Used to spend absolutely ages there.

    1. Serena says: Reply

I haven’t heard of Yogasphere but it sounds fun! I love browsing books too, there are so many in the Southbank market!

  21. I’ve lived in London for over a year and a half and there’s still so much I want to see or places I want to go! This cocktail bar looks amazing 😍 X

Oh my goodness, you have no idea how much I relate to this post! I’m a 23 year old Londoner & I still haven’t visited half these places either! But, in a way I think that’s cool- London always has something to see or somewhere to go, you just never get round to everything! If you need any more things to add to your list, I have so many recommendations, haha!

  29. I live in London as well and haven’t done any of the things listed LOL! Maybe it would be easier if I was childless but for now, I will see if I can manage one thing a year… if I can get the childcare xo

  30. I’m ashamed to say that I haven’t been to any of these places either, despite living in Oxford which is so close to London! I really really want to go on the London Eye especially, and the Cereal Cafe sounds like it would be great fun, if a little overpriced! Thanks for sharing, I hope you manage to visit all these cool places!
