Hey guys!
With Halloween only a few days away, I’ll be sharing the spooky movies and series that I’ll be watching this year. As I’ve probably mentioned before, I’m not keen on really scary horror films – like Candyman and Sinister – but I do like the classic Halloween films (such as The Addams Family, Hocus Pocus and Practical Magic) and teen / supernatural horror films (think Down a Dark Hall, Carrie and The Craft). I’ve compiled a list of some dark / spooky TV series and movies I’ve been watching this month, or will be watching over the next few weeks – as I’m working full-time I won’t be able to get through the entire list in October!
So, without further ado, here is my Halloween Watchlist:
Films
- Nocturne (2020) – Amazon Prime. A film for fans of Black Swan and The Neon Demon. Stars Sydney Sweeney from Euphoria.
- The Lie (2020) – Amazon Prime. This is labelled as a ‘horror’ film on IMDb, but it’s not scary at all. Ok, so there is a bit of blood and a couple of moments that made me jump, but other than that it’s more of a psychological thriller.
- The Last Keepers (2013) – Amazon Prime
- The Craft: Legacy (2020) – Amazon Prime from 28th October
- Halloweentown (1998) – Disney Plus. Can you believe I’ve never seen Halloweentown?! I did watch a bit of Halloweentown High years ago, but somehow I never got round to watching the whole film or the original. Now that I’ve got Disney Plus, I have no reason not to watch Halloweentown!
- Down a Dark Hall (2018) – Netflix. This film was less scary than I thought and I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoyed The Moth Diaries and Innocence.
- A Whisker Away (2020) – Netflix
- Teen Witch (1989) – Netflix.
- Hubie Halloween (2020) – Netflix. This is a new film for 2020, and it looks absolutely ridiculous but I’m gonna give it a try!
- Rebecca (2020) – Netflix. This isn’t a horror / Halloween film, but it’s got eerie Gothic vibes so it’s ideal for watching on the 31st. Also anything starring Lily James is bound to be good.
- Spontaneous (2020) – Available to purchase from Google Play & Amazon. A strange concept, but nonetheless enjoyable, and worth watching for Katherine Langford.
- Fallen (2016) – Available to purchase from Google Play & Amazon
- Double Double Toil & Trouble (1993) – Available to purchase from Google Play & Amazon
- The Witches (2020) – Available to purchase, probably from Google Play & Amazon
TV Shows
- American Horror Story: Coven (2013) – Netflix
- Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Part 3 (2020) – Netflix
- Cursed (2020) – Netflix. I’m not sure if this is my kinda show, but it stars Katherine Langford so I’m gonna give it a go!
- The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020) – Netflix. Because literally EVERYONE seems to be talking about it!
- His Dark Materials (2019) – HBO Max/BBC iPlayer
- Light as a Feather (2018) – Hulu or purchase from Amazon
So there’s my Halloween Watchlist! What films and series are you planning on watching this Halloween?
Serena
I’m quite ashamed to say, I’ve never watched any of these! I really need to get back into watching stuff! Great list!
Some great choices here. I loved the original witches so I am looking forward to seeing the new version.
I really enjoyed the haunting of Bly manor as well x
Soooo many good watches in this post. I can’t wait to watch The Witches, I was so scared of the original when I was small and this one looks soo good! I’m currently watching Bates Motel to get me into the Halloween spirit, it’s dark!

I don’t know any of those movies, tvshows although I’ve seen couple of them!
I am not good in scary movies unless I am watching them with someone else and I can hide behind my hand or a pillow ha ha! Thank you for reading and commenting.
Great list! There are a lot of titles here that I haven’t seen so I’ll be checking a few out ☺️

Serena, I just watched the Lie and in true thriller fashion, nothing was as it seemed. Definitely put me in a place to question things!
