Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books That Would Be On My Syllabus If I Taught YA and Children’s Adaptations X 101

Hey guys!

I didn’t do a Top Ten Tuesday last week because I was busy, but I’m back with this week’s topic: Top Ten Books That Would Be On My Syllabus If I Taught YA and Children’s Adaptations X 101. Listed below are the ten books I would teach if the subject was Essential YA Lit X 101. It’s comprised of YA books I love and a few that have some historical element in them that could tie in with other school subjects.

1. The Fault in Our Stars

2. Paper Towns

3. The Last Song

4. Before I Die / Now Is Good

5. Holes

This was actually on my syllabus in Year 6!

6. The Hunger Games

7. Harry Potter

8. The Diary of a Young Girl

9. My Sister’s Keeper

Such a moving book!

10. Matilda

This was one of my favourite books as a child and I think everyone should read it!

So those are the main books that would be on my syllabus! I would also add Divergent, Eragon, Alice in Wonderland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, How I Live Now, Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars and The Story of Tracy Beaker as additional reading. Which books would be on your syllabus if you taught this module?

  1. I love Holes. It's so so good. 🙂 I think I would do The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe, maybe Perks of Being a Wallflower, Ella Enchanted though it is a little low in difficulty. Fun list. 🙂 XO -Alexandra
